Toronto Railway Company Transfers (1892)

look how beautiful toronto transit transfers were in 1892. i wonder when and why this attention to detail and elegance expired? despite how reproduction and design and everything is easier with today's technology, everything looks so aesthetically lazy and vapid. it's insulting, in fact, the way our sight is corroded with flashy graphics in advertisements and shit at all times, and now there seems to be no use for simple elegant lettering like this because everything is photographs and colour and bullshit but no subtle dignity and beauty in what i look at. if transfers looked like this i'd feel like i was riding a subway of gold.

this is from the website of Steve Munro, the famed public transit activist, http://stevemunro.ca/
